How To Convert Videotape To DVD

Transfer of VHS videos onto a DVD was a lot difficult, expensive and time-consuming in the past. It is because at that time we had no computers or other tools to make the conversion easier. However, nowadays, we can use a computer and software in order to do the conversion from your home. This has become possible due to the advancement in technology. It has also reduced cost to a great extent as you can perform the procedure at your home. The cost of conversion is fraction of the price you have to pay to the professional video converting services. The video quality of VHS tapes degrades with the passage of time. You can make use of Roxio Easy “VHS to DVD” package in order to store your old memories onto DVD without compromising on quality.
Following are easy to implement instructions in order to convert VHS to DVD with the help of Roxio converter package.

The first thing you need to do is to connect the Roxio USB 2.0 device to your personal computer. The device will not work until you install the software that comes with the video capture device. Roxio is actually a video capture device. Once you have connected the device to your computer, a setup program will pop up. Follow the instructions visible on the screen in order to install the software without any hassle.
Your next step is to connect the Roxio adapter to the video capture device. Now, connect the VCR to that Roxio adapter. To get best quality, you may use an S-Video cable. Your next move is to connect the S-video cable to the Roxio adapter and the VCR. In case you do not have an S-Video cable, you can connect one end of the yellow composite cable to the yellow “Video out” jack on the VCR. Connect other ends (red and white) of the cable to the “Audio Out” jacks on the VCR.

To launch the Easy VHS to DVD, you need to double-click on its icon lying on the desktop. When the program is fully open, you should choose the “Video-Movies” option and then choose “Plug and Burn”. To burn the videos, you must have a DVD writer on your computer. Insert a DVD-R into the DVD writer/burner.

Choose the “Set productions” and then choose “No Menu”. From the drop down menu, you should choose the DVD writer. Choose “DVD” from the menu called “Disk Type”. Finally click on “next”.

Choose “USB 2861 Device” off the “Capture Device” menu. Now, hit the “Play” button on the VCR. Click on “Capture Now” option on the software in order to record the VHS tape.

Once you have recorded or captured the VHS tape, you should click on “Finish”. As soon as you click on “Finish”, the “Burn Project” windows will appear automatically.

Let both of the progress bars reach 100% and then hit “OK.”. Hit the “Eject” button on the DVD writer in order to take out the disc. Check on the disc by playing it on a DVD player to make sure it is working properly.
